Looi is a user-centric web and mobile platform designed to solve one of the most common urban challenges—finding clean, accessible toilets nearby. Built with the vision of improving public hygiene and convenience, the app empowers users to quickly locate restrooms in their area, ensuring that comfort and dignity are never compromised while on the go.

The platform goes beyond simple discovery by enabling users to actively contribute to the database. Anyone can submit details about new toilets, update information on existing ones, or report issues, creating a continuously evolving and reliable network of facilities. This participatory model ensures Looi stays accurate and community-driven.

Initial Challenges

The biggest challenge was building a trustworthy database in an area where facilities often go unreported. Encouraging user participation without overwhelming them with input fields required a balance of simplicity and engagement. Another challenge was optimizing real-time geolocation while keeping the app lightweight and fast, especially for users in low-connectivity areas.

Research & Brand Immersion

Through surveys and user interviews, we uncovered the lack of reliable information about public hygiene facilities in busy urban centers. Travelers, women, and families highlighted the importance of clean restrooms for safety and comfort. Looi’s branding was designed to reflect trust, inclusivity, and community effort—using approachable visuals, soft colors, and intuitive icons that immediately convey purpose.

Strategy

Looi was developed around three strategic pillars:
  • Community-Driven Data - Users contribute to the database, ensuring continuous growth and accuracy.
  • Real-Time Access - Quick, geolocation-based discovery to meet immediate needs.
  • Inclusive Design - An accessible interface catering to diverse age groups, literacy levels, and use cases.

The interface embraces simplicity with an emphasis on quick usability. Clean typography, recognizable restroom icons, and color-coded markers ensure clarity at a glance. Accessibility standards were followed to accommodate all users, including bilingual support and intuitive navigation.
